The average energy use in the scalding & defeathering area of the three poultry processing plants was 44% of the total. This translates to an average energy consumption of 15.05 MJ ranging from 6.08 to 26.20 MJ. The electrical energy consumption ranged from 5.54 to 24.17 MJ, with most of this being used for the scalders.
