Later, the Alliant name was applied to machines made at some other place. Now-a-days, they look like every other chinese mill. Supposedly modern Sharp machines are the same as the original Alliant, and parts interchange between these machines. I wouldn't know, in many years of use I've never needed to make any repairs.
I use Alliant mills in my shop by choice. Would buy even if even money to a Bridgeport. Table surface of Alliant is induction hardened. Believe Bridgeport is not. Also, has Turcite/chrome way surfaces. Know of no better design for this application. Am eager to get a new, Variable frequency drive mill.
